Ed Miliband the Climate Change Secretary recently stated that they use disposable nappies on his 6 month year old son. Here's a link to the article so I don't have to repeat everything he says.

All I can say about Ed Miliban is that he obviously hasn't done any proper research. Who irons their nappies? I certainly don't! And when I bought the nappies just under 3 years ago, it clearly said on the instructions 'Do not iron'.
Most people don't own a tumble dryer as far as I know. I generally line dry them, unless I really need to get them dry and the radiators are on, then I'll put them on the radiator.
They are also called re-usable for a reason! I've certainly re-used them onto my second child.
People who say that there is little energy difference in using disposable and reusable are greatly mistaken. Not only that, in an era where we're trying to cut down on waste, disposable nappies do not help, especially when 3 billion disposable nappies alone in the UK are thrown out each year. How about the rest of the world? And where just a tiny island at the edge of Europe!
I must admit, I'm not a saint. I do use disposable nappies when I go out, and there are bio-degradable disposable nappies. From my experience, when the child gets older, nappies do get soiled much quicker and so my husband told me to use isposables when we go out as we don't have time to keep popping into the changing rooms. But I do try to do my bit and I hope by reading my blog and the Miliband article, you will make informed choices and do your bit by researching and hopefully making the right decision.
